You sit down to pray. Perhaps you have a dedicated spot or maybe you’re just trying to fit it in between changing diapers and dropping the kids off at practice. There’s a lot on your mind; you know that you need this; you want this.
And then…you start thinking about your grocery list. Or that bump you had with your husband last night. Or all the other ways you’re barely keeping your head above water.
I get it. I am a chronic distracted “pray-er.” I got honest about this on my blog…and it turns out that thousands of women around the world feel the same way.
Surprised by the response I received, I knew what I had to do. In spite of prayer being my weakness, I began to focus on it. For four weeks I dug into my Bible and studied prayer. I journaled and I cried out to God.
I felt as close to God as I ever have been.
I don’t know where your faith journey is at, but it doesn’t really matter. We all start somewhere. I think of Jesus’ disciples; some were extremely religious and some were reformed criminals. And yet, they all needed to be taught this very basic concept: how to speak with their heavenly Father, to have a relationship with him.
Whether you’ve been praying your whole life or you have no clue how to start, I think there’s something for you.
Teach Me to Pray is a prayer journal that starts at the feet of Jesus. Simple prompts help you reflect on his powerful wisdom and then put it into practice. All you need is a few minutes a day…although I think you’ll find that the more consistently you pray, the easier it will be to do it for longer periods of time.
I dare you to try it…and watch your faith grow and your life change in just four weeks.
